Locum Work as your Main Employment: If we are your only employer, you should send us your P45 form from your previous employer. If you do not have a P45, please obtain a P46 from us to enable you to be taxed correctly. Approximately six weeks after the end of the tax year, we will send you a statement of earnings and a tax and National Insurance deductions form, P60.
Self-Employment: As a Junior / Middle grade doctor you will work under the control and supervision of others and as such cannot be self employed. As a consultant or GP you may be considered self employed and if you wish to be paid gross, you should obtain verification from your tax office that they consider you to be self employed. Without this verification we have to deduct tax and National Insurance from your salary at source.
Limited Companies: If you choose to work through a Limited Company, UK-Locums Ltd., can help arrange this but it does not pay10% NIC back to the doctor as we charge a fully inclusive rate.
To enable you to invoice us through a limited company, you must sign and return a contract for this service, which can be obtained from UK-Locums Ltd., We will not be able to issue payment until we have the signed contract on file.
